Job Summary
- The Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial health and operational efficiency of the organization.
- This individual will be responsible for managing all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, preferably within the hospitality industry, and possess the ability to provide strategic financial guidance to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans in alignment with organizational goals.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing actionable insights to senior management.
- Monitor key financial metrics and KPIs to ensure the financial stability and profitability of the business.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Present financial reports to senior management, stakeholders, and board members, highlighting performance against targets.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
Cash Flow Management:
- Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds for operational needs.
- Manage working capital, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory control.
- Optimize banking relationships and negotiate favorable terms with financial institutions.
Cost Control & Profitability:
- Implement cost control measures to maximize profitability across all business units.
- Analyze cost structures and identify areas for efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with department heads to monitor and control operational expenses.
Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Provide strategic financial guidance to support business decisions, including investments, expansions, and new projects.
- Evaluate financial implications of business initiatives and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
- Support the development and execution of business strategies to drive growth and profitability.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and tax requirements.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective risk management practices.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure the team meets deadlines and objectives.
Hospitality-Specific Responsibilities:
- Monitor revenue streams specific to the hospitality industry, including room revenue, F&B sales, and event bookings.
- Analyze occupancy rates, average daily rate (ADR), and revenue per available room (RevPAR) to optimize pricing strategies.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure seamless financial processes across all hospitality functions.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Achievement of budget and forecast targets.
- Improvement in profitability and cost efficiency.
- Compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
- Team performance and development.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, ACCA) is highly preferred.
Experience:
- 4 – 6 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
- Proven experience in the hospitality industry is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of hospitality-specific financial systems (e.g., Opera, Micros, or similar) is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
