Job Description
- The Accountant is responsible for managing the financial activities of the bar, lounge, and salon business.
- This includes recording transactions, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and providing financial insights to support decision-making.
- The ideal candidate will ensure the business’s financial health while maintaining a clear understanding of industry-specific challenges.
Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Monitor cash flow to ensure the business meets its financial obligations.
- Reconcile bank accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Revenue and Expense Tracking:
- Track sales and revenue from bar, lounge, and salon operations.
- Monitor and control operational costs, including inventory, staffing, and supplies.
- Conduct cost analyses to identify areas for efficiency and improvement.
Payroll & Tax Compliance:
- Process payroll, including tips and commissions for bar and salon staff.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Prepare and file VAT, income tax, and other required tax returns.
Inventory and Asset Management:
- Oversee inventory accounting for beverages, salon products, and supplies.
- Track depreciation and maintenance costs for equipment and assets.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage budgets for each business segment.
- Provide financial forecasts to guide strategic planning.
- Identify potential financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Internal Controls and Audit:
- Implement and maintain internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure accuracy.
- Prepare for and assist with external audits when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in accounting for hospitality, retail, or similar industries.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
- Partly qualified ICAN student can apply.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and cost control principles.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can adapt to the dynamic environment of the bar, lounge, and salon industries while ensuring sound financial management.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and salon management software.
- Experience with payroll for tipped employees and commission-based compensation.
Remuneration
N80,000 per month.
