  • The Farm Supervisor plays a crucial role in the successful cultivation and harvesting of cassava at Agbeyewa Farms.
  • This position requires a hands-on individual with strong leadership, organizational, and agricultural skills to oversee all aspects of field operations and ensure optimal yields.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all stages of cassava cultivation, including land preparation, planting, weeding, fertilizing, and harvesting.
  • Monitor crop growth and development, identifying and addressing any issues such as pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
  • Implement best practices for cassava cultivation, including appropriate spacing, pest and disease control measures, and soil management techniques.
  • Lead and supervise a team of farm workers, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Train and mentor farm workers on proper farming techniques and best practices.
  • Manage and utilize farm resources efficiently, including land, water, fertilizers, and equipment.
  • Implement cost-saving measures and optimize resource utilization.
  • Maintain accurate records of farm activities, including planting dates, harvesting yields, and input usage.
  • Collect data on crop performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure the quality of cassava tubers by implementing quality control measures throughout the production process.
  • Adhere to all farm safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all farm workers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field preferred.
  • 2 – 3 years of experience in cassava cultivation or a related field.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of cassava cultivation practices, including soil preparation, planting methods, and pest and disease control.
  • Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment (tractors, tillers, etc.).
  • Data collection and record-keeping skills.
